Chronomatica Wearable

Kinetic. Dynamic. Spectral.

Felipe Pantone evokes a spirit in his work that feels like a collision between an analog past and a digitized future. What would a wrist wearable inspired by the artist Felipe Pantone look like? An exploration into wearable design and adapting existing motifs.

Digital Wearable Evolution

Optical patterns, the color spectrum, and a digital evolution are central to the design ethos of the device, making it a perfect fit for those who appreciate both high-tech functionality and visually compelling design. A perfect accessory for designers who value form and function equally.

Transparent LED Screen over full color AMOLED
The transparent LED allows for the display of critical information or specific visual effects while maintaining the visibility of the underlying full color AMOLED screen.

The AMOLED display provides vibrant colors and deep blacks, crucial for the dynamic visual experience, while the transparent LED allows certain elements to stand out or disappear, depending on the user's needs.

Navigating with Dials
Two cylindrical dials are used as the primary input method. By rotating the dials, users can scroll through menus, zoom in and out of images or information, and adjust settings with precision.

Pressing the dials functions as a selection method, giving users a tactile, intuitive interaction with their device. This physical interaction connects users to the device in a more meaningful way compared to purely touch-based interfaces.

Rendering & CMF Exploration

The transparent LED and AMOLED combination offers a sophisticated aesthetic that can be minimalist or richly detailed depending on the user’s intention.

Colorful knit bands contrast the machined aluminium frame and polycarbonate attachment points. There is a cohesion that comes when colors are matched, and can be mixed to create unique styles.

Simple Forms?

Ideating Micro Details

Significant time and effort was dedicated to the microsurfacing details, which add a layer of sophistication and depth to the device.

These intricate surface treatments echo Pantone's focus on the interplay of light, color, and texture, ensuring that while the overall form remains simple, the experience of interacting with the device is rich and engaging.
